学院位于北京市中部-顺义区,邻近首都国际机场。北面是中影集团中国(怀柔)影视基地、北京电影学院新校区,南面是北京国际展览中心、雅昌文化集团、中央美术学院、北京798文化创意基地。依托于这些优质的教育资源设立了视觉传达设计、环境设计、产品设计、数字媒体艺术共四个艺术类本科专业。在校生1100余人。
学院践行“开放式、国际化、应用型”办学理念,致力于培养以国际视野为先导、以人文精神为基础、以创造性思维与应用能力为核心,能够自主正确选择学习、选择未来发展、不断超越自我并形成差异化能力,具有健康完善人格、适应时代发展的复合型、应用型艺术类高级专门人才。
Gengdan Academy of Design (GAD) is located in Shunyi District, central Beijing, close to the Capital International Airport. To the north lies the China Film Group (Huairou) Film and Television Base and the new campus of the Beijing Film Academy, while to the south are the Beijing International Exhibition Center, the Artron (Yachang) Art Group operation base, the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and the Beijing 798 Cultural and Creative artistic community. With these high-quality educational resources, GAD has established four undergraduate programmes in the arts, including Visual Communication Design, Environmental Design, Product Design, and Digital Media Art. There are currently more than 1,100 undergraduate students enrolled onto these programmes.
The Academy practices the philosophy of being "open, international and practical", respecting the individual development of students and vigorously promoting teaching that caters to their aptitude. It is committed to cultivating experienced professionals in the field of applied arts with international vision, humanistic spirit, creative thinking, a practical skillset, who have a healthy well-rounded personality, the adaptability with the development of the times, and the ability to make autonomous and correct choices about learning, future development, continuous self-improvement and differentiation.

An Education model which empowers students with more choices to get competitive differentiation and advantages
注重学生个性化发展,给学生充分的选择和选择的规范;帮助学生发现自己,按照适合自己发展的路径自主规划、学习、发展。学生入校后可以选择雅思英语班或四六级大英班;自主选择专业、选择工作室、选择毕业设计与就业实习课程。全过程培养学生独立思考、主动应对社会发展变化、不断规划提升个人职业发展的能力。
■ 大一学年 不分专业,专业群基础课程模块教学。通过对设计学科基础的全面认知学习,大一学年末引导学生从行业需求、个人兴趣及未来发展等多方面综合思考,选择专业、选择工作室。同时设有集中实践课(社会实践)。
■ 大二学年 专业+跨专业作室课题教学。以跨专业工作室课题的设计实践引导学生明确学习专业基础课的用途,以及学什么,怎么学。同时设置集中实践课(认知实习)、出国交换项目。
■ 大三学年 跨专业工作室教学。以课题(项目)实践教学为主导,同时设置工作室方向基础课程(交叉专业及学科基础),赋能于工作室课题实践。引导学生学以致用。同时设置工作坊课、集中实践课(专业实习)、出国交换项目。
■ 大四学年 毕业综合实践教学。以高质量就业与考研深造为导向,毕业设计可以选择在校内、企业院所、境外高校等环境下完成,毕业实习要求进入与设计相关的企事业单位。鼓励学生将毕业设计与毕业实习内容融为一体进入行业完成,时间2-5个月。
目前,跨专业、联校企工作室课题,外教课程、境外交换生项目,国际工作坊,企业工作坊,国际游学,国内外专家讲座等多种教育教学方式已经成为教学常态,在地国际化办学已经形成较完整的体系和运行规范。
The Academy focuses on the personalized development of students, providing them with ample choices and standards for making those choices; helping them to discover themselves and independently plan, learn, and develop along a path that suits their own growth. After entering the school, students can choose between IELTS English classes or CET-4/6 English classes; they can independently choose their majors, studios, and graduation design and employment internship courses. The entire process cultivates students' abilities to think independently, actively respond to social development changes, and continuously plan and enhance their personal career development capabilities.
■ In the first academic year, there is no division of majors, and the instruction is based on the basic course module of professional groups. By the end of the first academic year, based on the systematic understanding and cognitive judgment ability in design, the students are guided to comprehensively consider choosing their majors and studios from multiple aspects such as industry demand, personal interest, and future development direction. Meanwhile, there are intensive practical courses provided for the students.
■ In the second academic year, the instruction is based on the teaching model of “major + interdisciplinary studios”. The design practice of interdisciplinary studio projects guides students to understand the purpose of learning professional basic courses, what to learn, and how to learn. At the same time, there are intensive practical courses (cognitive internships) and overseas exchange programs.
■ During the third academic year, the focus shifts to interdisciplinary studio teaching. The practical teaching of project-based topics takes the lead, while foundational courses oriented towards the studio's direction are set up, including cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary foundations, to empower the practical application of studio projects. Students are guided to apply what they have learned to practical use. Additionally, workshops, intensive practical courses (professional internships), and overseas exchange programs are organized.
■ In the fourth academic year, the teaching is comprehensive practical teaching for graduation. Guided by the orientation of high-quality employment and further study, the graduation project can be completed in environments such as on-campus, enterprises and institutes, and overseas colleges, and the graduation internship requires completion in enterprises and institutions related to design. Students are encouraged to integrate the practice of graduation project with the content of the graduation internship to enter the industry, with a duration of 2-5 months.
At present, the Academy has integrated a variety of educational and teaching methods into its regular curriculum, which includes interdisciplinary and industry-university collaborative studio projects, courses taught by foreign teachers, overseas exchange programs, international workshops, enterprise workshops, international study tours, and lectures by experts from both domestic and international fields. These have become the norm in teaching and a more complete system and operational standards for localization of international education has been established.

学院注重教育教学生态建设和资源引入模式探索。采取联校、联企、联外,整合国内外艺术类院校教授、企业一线专家、学院专职教师等三支力量,已经形成了百余人的国内外教师团队。其中90%以上具有硕士以上学位, 70%以上具有企业背景, 80%以上具有海外留学经历。为国际化、应用型办学提供了师资保障。
坚持开放办学。一方面,按学年分别设计了社会实践、认知实习、专业实习、毕业实习四个阶段的集中实践教学计划,使学校教学与社会需求及行业发展保持互动和联系。另一方面,学校邀请业界设计师带着项目以校企合作工作室(设计中心)的方式落地学校,以课题(项目)引导学生课程学习,增强学以致用的体验感。现已经与100余家企业建立合作关系,例如广东顺德工业城,雅昌集团、央视、达索、中国天眼、方正字库、华灿奖、思特科技、盛讯信息技术,宏景微筑、京东等。
The Academy focuses on the construction of an educational teaching ecosystem and the exploration of resource introduction models. By adopting a strategy of collaboration with other schools, enterprises, and international institutions, it has integrated the strengths of professors from domestic and international art schools, frontline experts from enterprises, and full-time teachers from the academy, forming a team of over a hundred teachers from both China and abroad. More than 90% of these teachers hold a master's degree or above, over 70% have enterprise background, and over 80% have overseas study experience, providing a strong faculty support for the international and applied-oriented education.
The Academy adheres to the principle of open-door education. On one hand, it has designed a intensive practical teaching plan divided into four phases according to the academic year: social practice, cognitive internship, professional internship, and graduation internship, ensuring that school teaching maintains interaction and connection with societal needs and industry development. On the other hand, the Academy invites industry designers with projects to establish school-enterprise cooperative studios (design centers) within the school, guiding students' course learning with topics (projects), and enhancing the experience of applying what they have learned. The Academy has now established cooperative relationships with more than 100 enterprises, such as Guangdong Shunde Industrial City, Artron Group, CCTV, Dassault, China Sky Eye(FAST), Founder Type, Huacan Award, Gooest Technology, Shengxun Information Technology, Hongjing Weizhu, JD.com, and others.

Studios serve as practical teaching centers for integrating resources and exploring innovative applications across disciplines. They organize interdisciplinary and inter-institutional teams of teachers and industry resources, guiding teaching with real-world projects and problems. They embody the integration of art, engineering, and business etc., fostering interdisciplinary innovation and ensuring seamless alignment between the academy's educational goals and industry application needs. They cultivate students with comprehensive qualities, capable of design, planning, and technical understanding. The following nine studios are currently established:

学院2017年加入联合国唯一认证的国际艺术设计院校联盟(Cumulus),现与境外47所大学建立合作关系,2016年启动视觉传达国际班,2018年启动环境设计国际班,2023年全面推进国际化办学。学院一直关注国际先进设计教育理念和设计发展新动向,与世界同步。致力于为学生提供跨文化交流学习的国际资源平台,培养全球化背景下设计思辨能力与个性化创新能力。为学生毕业进入国际企业和考研深造奠定基础。办学措施与成果如下:
1.采用与国际接轨的课程计划,为学生未来留学提供课程对接保障。
2.聘请外教参与专业核心课程教学。
3.提供雅思英语教学课程计划,外教和中教联合授课。
4.本科双学位获取,修完计划内课程、并在境外学习一年以上,达到境外院校学位学分要求,将同时获取境外院校学士学位。可自主选择“1+3”“2+2”“3+1”境外学习项目。

In 2017, the Academy joined the Cumulus, the only international consortium of art and design schools accredited by the United Nations, and has now established cooperative relationships with 47 universities abroad. The English-taught Visual Communication program was initiated in 2016, followed by the Environmental Design program in 2018, and by 2023, all four majors have fully advanced international education, with English teaching divided into IELTS classes and CET-4/6 English classes. The main features are as follows:
1. International professional curriculum plans are adopted to provide curriculum docking assurance for students' future study abroad.
2. Foreign teachers are employed to participate in the teaching of core professional courses.
3. Students are encouraged to study abroad, pursue further education, and a specialized IELTS English teaching plan is provided, with joint teaching by foreign and Chinese teachers.
4. Undergraduate dual degree acquisition is possible; upon completion of the planned courses and study abroad for more than one year, meeting the degree credit requirements of foreign institutions will result in obtaining the bachelor's degree from the foreign institution. Depending on the improvement of students' English levels, they can independently choose to study abroad through "1+3," "2+2," or "3+1" programs.
5. On-campus international workshop projects: Organize a 2-week international workshop + industry workshop teaching project every fall semester.
6. Erasmus Programme+: A tuition-free exchange student program of the European Union, lasting for one semester.
7. International study tour program: Combining with international educational academic exchange activities such as the annual meeting of the Cumulus consortium, organizing teachers and students to participate in conferences and friendly school workshop teaching activities, generally lasting 10-15 days (students sign up independently and bear their own expenses).
8. Since the establishment of the English class in 2016, the average admission rate for English class students to study abroad for postgraduate studies has reached more than 50%,.

The Academy boasts an excellent art building with teaching areas, laboratories, and studios covering a total area of 19,000 square meters. It also has a library connected to the collections of major universities across the country, a comprehensive basic teaching area, an interdisciplinary innovation and entrepreneurship practice center, a swimming pool, a tennis court, and a physical fitness training center. The teaching, working, exhibiting, communicating, and sports and fitness spaces, among other experiential teaching environments and functional facilities, are well-equipped, providing a guarantee for students' professional learning and comprehensive development.

办学以来,平均每年就业率在95%以上,实习及就业于央视等电视台、广东工业城企业、腾讯、搜狐网、新浪网、奥美集团、中国中建集团、周大福、雅昌集团、华灿工场、中国天眼等各类企业学生得到广泛认可,创业学生越来越多。有部分学生考取中央美术学院、清华大学、人民大学、北京理工大学、北京服装学院、英国皇家艺术学院、伦敦艺术大学、罗德岛艺术学院、萨凡纳艺术学院、芝加哥艺术学院、旧金山艺术学院等国内外一流艺术类大学研究生。学生参加国内外各类赛事达六千余人次。
Since its establishment, the Academy has maintained an average annual employment rate of over 95%. Students who have interned and been employed by various enterprises such as CCTV and other television stations, Guangdong Industrial City enterprises, Tencent, Sohu, Sina, Ogilvy Group, China State Construction Engineering Corporation, Chow Tai Fook, Artron Group, Huacan Factory, China Sky Eye(FAST), and others have received widespread recognition. An increasing number of students are embarking on entrepreneurship. Some students have been admitted to graduate schools at top art universities both domestically and internationally, such as the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, Royal College of Art, University of the Arts London, Rhode Island School of Design, Savannah College of Art and Design, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, San Francisco Art Institute, and others. Students have participated in various domestic and international competitions more than 6,000 times.

在学院党支部领导下,建立了辅导员、班导师、学友导师和学生干部四支队伍,形成了完整的育人体系。以党团教育为主线,全面提升学生思想政治素质;以校内外志愿公益活动为载体,培养学生良好的行为习惯和社会责任感;以行为教育和第二课堂实践为导向,鼓励学生全面提升个人综合素养。每学年都会有计划组织党团系列活动、一二·九合唱比赛、微电影大赛、社区文化建设、校内外公益服务等丰富多彩的有意义、有价值的文化活动。
Under the leadership of the Academy's Party branch, a comprehensive education system has been established with four teams: counselors, class tutors, alumni tutors, and student leaders. With Party and Youth League education as the main thread, the ideological and political quality of students is comprehensively enhanced. Volunteer public welfare activities both inside and outside the school serve as a vehicle to cultivate students' good behavioral habits and sense of social responsibility. Behavior education and extracurricular practice are oriented to encourage students to improve their overall personal qualities. Each academic year, a variety of meaningful and valuable cultural activities are planned and organized, such as a series of Party and Youth League activities, the December 9th Choral Competition, micro-film contests, community cultural construction, and public services both on and off campus.

学校极力推进与行业深度合作实践教学。采取了联手企业院所,并以工作室的方式聘请行业一线专家和专职教师一道以项目及问题为导向组织教学;已经与广东顺德创新设计研究院及工业设计城、雅昌、思特科技、中国天眼、央视、达索等近百家国内外企业建立合作关系,并建立较系统的实践教学计划。设置了大一学年暑假社会认知调研实践课程。大二学年末行业调研实践课程(期末1个月),让学生了解企业运行规律和行业资源,认知本专业在企业中的核心价值,定位自己未来发展方向。大三学年将企业成功案例或开发性项目引入校内实践课程或工作室教学,并聘请业界专家和专职教师一道组织教学和研发,强化学生将知识、技能结合到实际项目中进行转化应用和探索创新。大四学年结合毕业设计实践组织学生进入企业实习实践3-5个月,让学生深度体验真实项目调研、策划、设计以及市场推广与运营等系统性能力需求和综合应用方式;为高质量就业做准备。过程中学生大量的设计方案被企业采用,大大提升了学生的积极性,激发了学生的创造力。校内联合工、商、文其它学科专业,探索跨专业工作室课题实践教学;系统地创新实践教学,为高质量就业和出国深造提供了保障。
