At the beginning of May, our university and Budapest Metropolitan University of Hungary signed a cooperation agreement. Hungary is the first European country to join the Belt and Road Initiative. The cooperation between our university and Budapest Metropolitan University of Hungary demonstrates of our positive response to the national Belt and Road development initiative and the promotion of our university's international development.

On May 27th, Mr. Wang Weigang from Budapest Metropolitan University  came to Gengdan Institute and had talks on cooperation details with Ms. Shan Wenbo, vice dean of Business School, some academic leaders from Gengdan Academy of Design and school of Engineering, Ms. Wang Xiaoyu, director of International Office, and Mrs. Han Xi, project manager of international office.

At the meeting, Director Wang Xiaoyu welcomed Mr. Wang Weigang and briefly introduced to participants the background of the cooperation between two universities. In the future, under the cooperation framework of the two universities, the two sides will first carry out student exchange programs and master program, and will consider 2+2 double degree courses, winter and summer schools, etc. in the near future. According to the specialty setting of Budapest Metropolitan University, the business and design school of our university will be the key areas of cooperation between the two universities.

Mr. Wang Weigang said that Hungary enjoys geographical advantage and friendly relations with China and the capital city, Budapest is an excellent destination for studying abroad with its long history and rich cultural resources. As a young university, Budapest Metropolitan University is keeping with the times in its professional teaching and developing rapidly in its internationalization.  

Teachers joining the meeting from our university asked questions and had discussion with Mr. Wang about details such as requirements for the master degree application, credit authentication, tuition fees, scholarships, etc..

After the meeting, Mr Wang Weigang delivered a lecture for our students. He introduced in details about the cooperation between two universities and encouraged students to participate in international exchanges programs to expand  international vision and enrich personal experiences.

Brief Introduction to Budapest Metropolitan University 

Founded in 2001, Budapest Metropolitan University is one of the largest private universities in Central Europe and one of the first Hungarian institutions of higher education to be accredited by the Ministry of Education, China. The university offers courses in Art and Design, Business, Communication and Communication Studies and Tourism, and adopts the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credit system. At present, there are about 10,000 students in the university, of which 1,200 are international students (Chinese students accounting for about 10%) coming from more than 70 countries on 6 continents.
