Professor Chen Lin and Professor Juan from the Gengdan Academy of Design were invited to hold a workshop in Cumulus
On the afternoon of November 23rd, Professor Chen Lin, head of International Environment Design of Gengdan Academy of Design, and Professor Juan from Spain were invited to successfully hold "Looking for narratives to reconnect with" in 2023 Cumulus Beijing (Central Academy of Fine Arts), an international alliance of art and design college Earth – Finding Narratives to reconnect with the World "workshop.
The Annual meeting of the Cumulus Association, officially recognized by UNESCO as the world's only international organization of art, design and media schools, will be held at the Central Academy of Fine Arts from November 22 to November 24. With nearly 400 members from more than 70 countries around the world, it brings together the most famous art and design universities in the world, and is the largest and most influential international academic organization in the field of international art and design education.
This is the first time that Gengdan Institute has held a workshop in cumulus since joining the Cumulus Association in 2017. The workshop showcases the teaching achievements of the International Environmental Class in the past five years, and the two professors have fully communicated with teachers and students of world-renowned art and design universities. The teaching exploration and academic attainments of professors Chen Lin and Juan have also added luster to the college. Their years of teaching and research in Environmental Design not only enrich the academic field, but also bring cutting-edge knowledge to students and help inspire them.
Professor Chen Lin and Professor Juan proposed "How can design foster affective relations with nature?" with the theme of "Looking for a Narrative to Reconnect with the Earth?" The question "How to design to foster an emotional relationship with Nature" aims to break down the separation between humans and nature by exploring emotional narratives, fostering care for the planet and finding new ways of interdependence.
The workshop lasted 120 minutes and the number of participants was 25. The participants were professors from universities around the world, doctoral students, students from Gengdan Academy of Design. The activities include Workshop presentations, generating new connections, building narrative stories, and creating paintings, which are designed to stimulate the imagination of participants, create new narratives, and lay the foundation for a better relationship with the planet.
