A Topic Lecture on “China and the World in the New Era” by President Lin Yanzhi at Gengdan Institute
On the night of 12 October, in the General Building at Gengdan Institute, President Prof. Lin Yanzhi delivered a topic lecture on “China and the World in the New Era” for students who selected the course “International Education and Overseas Study Planning” this term and for 150 activists and developing targets who are applying to join the CPC.
The first part of the report is “Towards the Center of the World Stage”. With a series of graphs concerning GDP (Gross Domestic Product), against the backdrop of our country’s performance during the COVID-19 period and foreign dynamics, President Lin analyzed the current world situation while suggesting a succession of advantages China has exhibited in the new era at the same time.
The second part is “Sino-American Relation, China’s International Relation and Us”. Considering students might not have a very thorough understanding of the international situation, President Lin explicated the very link between international relations and the students through five core points and an analysis of the current international societal situation, helping them understand relevant theoretical knowledge.
The third part is “Differences between Subjects/Subjectivity”, during which President Lin emphasized that “the nature of mankind is the sum of social relations”, inspiring students to try to build up and maintain good social relations so as to achieve a better development. Only when good social relations are established, can people’s behavior and thinking be correctly guided so much so that their nature can be realized as much as possible.
Finally, through the picture for “the Matching of Industrialized Productivity” President Lin drew such an analogy by comparing a line spreading from a particular original point to the trajectory of life, hoping students would put themselves in an objective position to look at the world just from Gengdan so as to make their contributions to society and the world in the future.
Students attending the lecture all concentrated on President Lin’s excellent report from beginning to end while taking notes carefully. We believe that as the Gengdan youth, students may hold the relay stick of times, commit themselves body and soul to their youthful missions and strive for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
